2021 Brakeman Class Scheduled April 3 and 10

It’s that time of year again; the next Brakeman Class at the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum is less than two months away and there are still spaces available! This two-day hands-on class is offered twice a year and is the first step for those interested in becoming a volunteer for our weekend excursion train operations. The class will be held on April 3 and 10, 2021. See the brakeman class webpage for more information and to sign up. Museum membership is the only prerequisite.

2021 Rules Class Dates Scheduled

The San Diego and Arizona Railway will be sending out railroad Rules and Review notices by mail for existing railroad personnel shortly.  These letters will list which class(es) you are due for.  New volunteers interested in train operations or trainees who have not yet attended Rules and Review may also attend these classes.

This year, for the first time, Rules and Review classes will be held at:

2021 Class dates and times are as follows:

Safety and Security Class – 4 hours of instruction
Sunday, July 18 starting at 09:00
Saturday, July 31 starting at 09:00
Saturday, August 14 starting at 09:00

General Code of Operating Rules Class – 8 hours of instruction, 1 hour lunch break
Saturday, July 17 starting at 09:00
Sunday, August 15 starting at 09:00
Saturday, August 28 starting at 09:00

Air Brake Class (for Brakemen and Conductors) – 4 hours of instruction
Sunday, July 18 starting at 14:00
Saturday, July 31 starting at 14:00
Saturday, August 14 starting at 14:00

Air Brake and Train Handling Class (for Engineers) – 8 hours of instruction, 1 hour lunch break
Sunday, August 1 starting at 09:00
Sunday, August 29 starting at 09:00
